A driver is accused of going more than 100-miles-an-hour, leading to a crash on Kellogg over the weekend.

The crash was reported at 1:45 Sunday morning, on Kellogg near I-235. Arriving officers found a Jeep that had been hit and rolled. Two people inside suffered injuries described as severe but not life-threatening.

There was a Dodge Challenger near the Jeep, but no driver at the scene. Witnesses reported seeing that car speeding before the crash. Another person reported seeing the driver leaving the scene on foot. The driver was found later at a nearby motel and described as being uninjured. He had been identified as Rakim Dean.

Investigators went through the Challenger’s Event Data Recorder and found it was being driven at 136-miles-an-hour just before the crash. This information was given to the District Attorney’s Office, and Dean had since been charged with two counts of aggravated battery, leaving the scene of serious injury collision, and speeding.
