UPDATE:  A Wichita man has been charged with first degree murder for the fentanyl-related death of a 22-month-old boy.

26-year-old Calvin Vick is also charged with aggravated endangering a child.  His bond was set at $100,000 and his next court appearance was scheduled for June 16th.

Vick was arrested on May 18th after an investigation into a child’s death last summer.   Police said the boy was unresponsive when he arrived at a hospital June 21st, 2022.  He later died and an autopsy found that he died of fentanyl toxicity.

Wichita Police arrested a 26-year-old man on second-degree murder charges in connection to the death of a 22-month-old boy.

Authorities said the toddler unresponsive when he arrived at a hospital on June 21st.  The child died later and the cause was not immediately known, but lab results indicated later that the death was caused by fentanyl toxicity.

A warrant was issued for the 26-year-old and he was taken into custody on Thursday, May 18th.

The man was also arrested on domestic battery, criminal threat, and kidnapping charges.

The case is still under investigation and has been sent to the Sedgwick County district attorney’s office.
