UPDATE 5/24/23:

Wichita Police said Wednesday that 19-year-old La’tionna Johnson died from her injuries at a Wichita hospital after being shot in Old Town Saturday evening (See story below).

It happened around 11 p.m. Saturday near 1st and Washington.

Police are still searching for the suspect, identified as 19-year-old La’Niha Banks (pictured). Banks was fled the scene in a red 2014 Buick Lacrosse with a 60-day temporary tag. Anyone who may see Banks or knows where she could be should call 911.

Wichita Police Department are investigating a shooting that critically injured a 19-year-old Wichita woman.

Police responded to a shooting call around 11:10 p.m. Saturday in the 1000 block of E. 1st St. N. There they found the woman with a gunshot wound to her upper body. She was transported to a hospital in critical condition with life-threatening injuries.

Further investigation revealed that the victim was trying to break up a fight between an acquaintance of hers and a female suspect in a parking lot. After she managed to stop the fight and began to drive away from the scene, the female suspect produced a handgun and started shooting at the vehicle.

The suspect was identified as 19-year-old La’Niha Banks of Wichita. Banks was last seen fleeing the scene in a red 2014 Buick Lacrosse with a paper 60-day tag (pictured).

Police are still trying to locate Banks, who is wanted on one count of aggravated battery, five  five counts of aggravated assault, two counts of discharge of a firearm into an occupied vehicle, and one count of attempted murder. She is considered armed and dangerous.
