You made it to Friday, Day 1 of Riverfest – naturally there is a lot going on today, heading into the weekend.  Here are 3 things you need to know today

Let’s start with the 51st edition of Wichita Riverfest. This is Wichita’s biggest party and the best thing to do is get the app on your phone and enable notifications. From your desktop got to Wichita Riverfest Dot Com.  This will keep you plugged in to all the fun, and any changes in schedule.

Day 1 starts with the Admiral’s Breakfast and Hot Air Balloon Launch, 11:45, the food court officially opens and the Sundown Parade steps off at 6:30.  The day ends with Shaggy performing at Kennedy Plaza and the openining night fireworks.  Oh, and remember, KFDI is excited to bring you 2 country shows this year – Eli Young Band on Tuesday and Parmalee on Saturday the 10th

National Donut Day and the Kansas Honor Flight

Today is National Donut Day – a perfect day to surprise the people at your office with donuts.  If you want to take the celebration one step further, head to Hurts Donuts today, because all day till Midnight, they are serving up donuts and 10% of all the sales will go to Kansas Honor Flight to help send area Veterans to Washington DC to see the memorials.  If you don’t want donuts, and I can’t imagine you wouldn’t, there will be volunteers on hand to take donations.

Finally, If you’re going to Missouri this summer for a much needed vacation, the state of Missouri is reminding you, please don’t wrestle the bears.  Okay, first, if they have to issue this warning it means some knucklehead went all “hold my beer” and did it. Secondly, not only do you run the risk of getting treated like Leonardo DiCaprio did in the Revenant, – if you’re lucky enough to survive your stupidity, you’ll be charged with a misdemeanor.
