After two days of public comments, the Kansas Racing and Gaming Commission has given unanimous approval for a license to construct an historical horse racing casino near Park City.

The Commission approved a bid from Wichita developer Phil Ruffin and the Ruffin Companies for the Golden Circle Project.  It would replace the former Wichita Greyhound Park at 77th Street North and I-135.

The project calls for three floors of entertainment, including a nightclub and betting on horse racing via simulcast from premier tracks.   There will also be a hotel with over 100 rooms.   The project will create about 300 construction jobs and another 300 permanent jobs at the casino.

Boyd Gaming had the other proposal that was being considered during a meeting this week in Wichita.
