I had totally forgotten I had a CD player in my car. I was at Club Car Wash… and before you go in… they offer you a towel. I used it to wipe down my dash. I was cleaning all the fingerprints off my LCD screen. I guess I was pushing all sorts of buttons while I was cleaning. Suddenly, I started hearing music. I looked at the screen and it said the CD player was going. Seriously, I forgot I even had one.
Turns out it was a six cd changer. The song playing was “The Road I’m On” by Garth Brooks. That was from his CD “FUN” released three years ago. That must have been the LAST thing I put in there.
It was fun scanning through the CD. The pandemic delayed the release. The first single was released in 2018, and KFDI played “All Day Long” when it came out. In fact, there were many more singles before the CD appeared in November 2020. The second single was “Stronger Than Me”, followed by “Dive Bar” – a duet with Blake Shelton. There’s more, “Shallow” and “That’s What Cowboys Do.”
Listening to “Dive Bar” I was impressed with Garths’ ability to rhyme “reservoir” with “bar”. He just had to add some twang to “res-e-vwaaahr.” Also, Trisha’s part in “Shallow” is mind-blowing. You can check out the video below.
Here’s what else was loaded into my CD player: Brad Paisley’s “This Is Country Music” from 2011. That had the Carrie Underwood duet “Remind Me.” I found Keith Urban’s “Ripcord.” Also, “The Essential Tony Bennett”… a happy find since he recently passed away. The final CD was Pink Floyd “Wish You Were Here.” One of my all-time favorite bands.
The good news, I have a clean touch screen, six CD’s I forgot about, but don’t have the jewel cases for. What have you found that you lost track of?
