Severe thunderstorms moved through south central Kansas early Saturday, bringing winds up to 70 miles an hour and causing damage in several communities.

The storms moved through Kingman, Harper, southern Sedgwick, Sumner and Cowley counties between 5 a.m. and 7 a.m. and several locations reported winds of 60 miles an hour or greater.

The storms brought down trees and tree limbs across Sumner and Cowley counties.  Tree damage was reported in Oxford.   A semi was overturned and a tree fell on a camper at the Cowley County Fairgrounds in Winfield, and a number of cars and campers were damaged.  The ferris wheel was blown over during the storm, and the storm also damaged barns and tents across the fairgrounds.   No injuries were reported.

There were scattered power outages in Wichita and other communities after the storms.
