Today’s JJ’s Star Spangled Salute honors WWII Veteran Ernie Andrus. Ernie has a dream, he wants to one day take the fully restored LST 325, amphibious landing ship-tank, back to the beaches of Normandy, as a memorial to D-Day. As part of a fundraising effort, he began walking from Georgia in 2019.  With health issues and the help of a friend, Ernie’s trek finally ended this past Saturday as the Pacific Ocean washed over his feet. 4 years, 5 months and 2600 miles later, the journey was done. Ernie did this at the age of 100.  Thank you Ernie for wanting to preserve history and THANK YOU for your service.
