The City of Wichita says smoke from wildfires in Canada and the northwestern United States has brought the city’s air quality down to a level that is considered “very unhealthy.”
The air quality index was at 159, which is considered high. The impacts of the air quality will be felt by sensitive groups, and people are urged to avoid outdoor activity as much as possible.
Smoke from Canadian wildfires has been affecting cities across the Midwest and the Plains, and some of the smoke is also coming from wildfires in California. The smoke is expected to continue into Thursday, creating hazy conditions and lower air quality.
