A Wichita man has been sentenced in connection with an incident at a south Wichita nightclub last year.

43-year-old Jason Beard pleaded guilty in March to aggravated battery, five counts of criminal damage to property and three counts of misdemeanor assault.  He was given 24 months of probation with an underlying sentence of 20 months in prison.  If he violates probation, he will have to serve the prison time.  Beard was also ordered to go to Alcoholics Anonymous three times a week for 90 days.

Prosecutors said on August 11th, 2022,  Beard was driving an SUV that struck four vehicles in the parking lot of Club Rodeo at 3426 East MacArthur.   One of the club’s bouncers was dragged a short distance, and witnesses said the SUV then backed into the Club Rodeo building two or three times, damaging the metal facade, the front sliding glass door and a pillar holding up a portion of the roof.   Beard was arrested later after he abandoned his vehicle on MacArthur.

Beard was ordered to pay $5,000 in restitution to the club, $1,330 to an individual whose car was damaged, and $500 each to two other car owners.
