The last Friday of Summer is here. Saturday morning at 1:50am, while most of you are sleeping, Fall comes in.  Then later in the day it will be in the upper 80’s with a chance of storms.  Go home Mother Nature, you’re drunk. Another big weekend with the NHL in town and lots to see in do.  Let’s find out what else is trending.

1. If you’ve been near city hall recently, you may have noticed vandalism on the Law Enforcement memorial. While completely hurtful and disrespectful and distasteful, the chalk writing is legal under the letter of the law protecting freedom of speech.

2. A couple of things to put on your list of fun this weekend, the Drone Festival at Exploration place.

and my wife Amy and I went to see “Six” last night at Century II – it is so much fun and is in town through Sunday.

3. The United Auto Workers strike could get bigger today.  If there is no visible progress by noon today, the strike against the big 3 automakers could expand to more facilities.

4. Scientists in China have genetically modified silk worms to produce spider silk that is 6 times stronger than Kevlar.  Great, bullet proof spiders, well, there goes sleep for me for the forseeable future.

5. and a couple from New Zealand is suing Singapore Airlines after they were stuck sitting next to a person and their emotional support dog for 13 hours.  The dog drooled, snored and farted for the entire flight.  After an incident report was filed the couple was offered a $74 voucher for the inconvenience of flying the flatulent skies.  Well, that stinks.
