Police have a 30-year-old man in custody for a fatal shooting that happened late Thursday night in an east Wichita neighborhood.
Officers were called to the 800 block of South Mission around 11:25 p.m. on a report of a shooting, and they found two victims. One of them, 40-year-old Adraine Kenney of Wichita, was dead at the scene. A 22-year-old woman was taken to a hospital with critical injuries.
Police arrested a suspect after a brief standoff two blocks away. Detectives found that the man and the two women were involved in a disturbance that led to the shooting. Information will be presented to the Sedgwick County District Attorney’s Office for the filing of charges.
