A cold front is bringing cooler temperatures to Kansas and the thermometer is expected to drop to freezing levels in some parts of the state.

A frost advisory has been issued for southern and northeastern areas of Kansas from 3 a.m. to 9 a.m. Saturday, and that includes the Wichita area.   Temperatures are expected to be in the 33 to 38 degree range overnight.

A freeze warning is in effect for northwestern Kansas and some extreme north central counties, with overnight lows expected to range from 27 to 32 degrees.

People are urged to cover their outdoor plants and take steps to prevent freezing of outdoor water pipes in the areas where freezing temperatures are expected.
