A public meeting will be held Saturday for residents in north Wichita to get an update on a groundwater contamination site.
The meeting will focus on the progress of efforts to deal with contamination in the 29th and Grove area, with information on health screening for residents.
Kansas health officials have reported higher rates of liver cancer among adults, and a higher rate of low birthweights among infants, in a study of the contamination site, which is along the north part of a Union Pacific rail yard.
This is the fifth public meeting to be held regarding the site. It will be held from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. at the Boys and Girls Club at 2400 North Opportunity Drive.
