Oklahoma Attorney General Gentner Drummond has filed a lawsuit against the Oklahoma Statewide Virtual Charter School Board over their approval of a Catholic virtual charter school.
The board approved the application for the St. Isidor of Seville Virtual Charter School in June, and then this week, three of those board members signed a contract for the school.
Drummond from the beginning has warned the board that the approval violates both the state and US constitutions. He says signing the contract violates the religious liberty of all Oklahomans by, quote, “forcing us to fund the teachings of a specific religious sect with our tax dollars.”
The legal action was filed with the State Supreme Court.
