Officials in Maine say a mass shooting suspect’s mental health may have played a role in Wednesday’s deadly rampage.
During a Saturday news conference, Public Safety Commissioner Mike Sauschuck said “clearly, there’s a mental health component” to the crime. Records show Robert Card had been treated in a mental health facility over the summer.
The 40-year-old’s body was found last night at a recycling center where previously worked. Police said he died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head.
Vigils began Saturday to remember the victims of the shootings. Eighteen people were killed and 13 others wounded in the mass shootings at a bowling alleyand bar in Lewiston on Wednesday.
