Police in Maize have arrested a man for several recent porch thefts.
Police said the man took a package from a home in the Watercress neighborhood on Tuesday, and he was driving a gold Ford Fusion. Police said the suspect was identified, arrested and booked into the Sedgwick County jail on charges of theft, making false information and drug-related charges. Information will be presented to the Sedgwick County District Attorney’s Office for the filing of charges.
Police said private and Flock cameras, other data sources, and tips from the public helped to identify the suspect and recover the stolen item.
Police also said porch thefts are expected to increase with the upcoming holiday season. They said the safest way to ensure the receipt of packages is to have them delivered to your workplace or to a secure location such as a UPS or FedEx store. Otherwise, residents are urged to have someone at home to collect packages when they are delivered.
