Envelopes with suspicious powdery substances have been found at election offices in states across the country. Authorities in Washington, Oregon, California, Nevada and Georgia are investigating the envelopes, which were all received this week.
Spokane, Washington police said an initial test of a white powdery substance in one envelope sent to the county elections office was confirmed to have traces of fentanyl, while Tacoma police say their letter only tested for baking soda.
Georgia Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger confirmed a suspicious letter was intercepted before reaching Fulton County election workers.
Officials in California also confirmed Thursday two envelopes were intercepted before reaching election facilities.
There was also a scare at the Texas Attorney General’s Office in Austin after an envelope full of white power was discovered. It is unknown if the incidents are all connected.
