The temporary ceasefire between Israel and Hamas has reportedly been extended. Media reports said the White House has confirmed that a deal to extend the truce has been reached.
Qatari officials said the agreement was for an additional two-day pause in fighting. The original four-day agreement was set to expire at midnight Eastern, which is 7 a.m. Tuesday local time.
Hamas has released 58 hostages as part of the deal while Israel has freed 117 Palestinian prisoners in exchange. The original truce agreement allowed for it to be extended by one additional day for every ten hostages freed by Hamas.
