A Winfield plastics manufacturer is closing its doors and laying off employees.
Silgan Dispensing Systems announced this week that it will close its Winfield facility on January 9th in a consolidation measure.
The company will lay off 169 employees starting January 27th. Silgan officials said some employees will be offered jobs at a facility in Missouri. Cowley First, the county’s economic development agency, said it’s disappointed with the closure. They will work to connect Silgan employees with other jobs.
The company makes plastic containers with dispensers for a number of products.
