A Harvey County judge has sentenced a Newton woman to more than two and a half years in prison for child abuse.
45-year-old Melissa Johnson pleaded guilty to aggravated battery and abuse of a child. Prosecutors said the victims were children under the age of 8.
Johnson was ordered to serve 31 months, then 24 months post release under supervision by the Kansas Department of Corrections.
The case was investigated by the Newton Police Department and the Heart 2 Heart Child Advocacy Center.
