The Sedgwick County Sheriff’s Office has introduced three new patrol vehicles with a retro design.
The design was introduced in 1993 by Sheriff Mike Hill, and the two-tone design was named “Shamu” by deputies. The design won a national award and every marked vehicle had the design until the current design was implemented by Sheriff Robert Hinshaw in 2009.
Current Sheriff Jeff Easter authorized a proposal to return to the design for three new Dodge Durango vehicles, and the first vehicle is going into service with one of the Community Liaison deputies.
