Today, JJ’s Star Spangled Salute honors 98-Year-Old WWII Veteran Frank Wright. Frank quit high school in 1942 to join the military in WWII. So why did he choose the Marines?  He says that’s easy, because they had the prettiest uniforms. It was Pearl Harbor that was the driving force behind Frank joining. Frank’s story began with a pocket full of bananas in order to make weight to join, to eventually hearing the call to volunteer for the 4th Marine Raiders. The Marine Raiders are said to be the first U.S. special forces to form and fight in World War II. When asked why he wanted to be a Raider, he said he wanted to fight, and fight he did – in many of the battles in the Pacific theater.  He is now one of the last of the Marine Raiders.  Thank you Frank for sharing your story and THANK YOU for your service.
