The Kansas Bureau of Investigation said a Franklin County man has been arrested in connection with the death of his newborn son.

A 24-year-old Richmond, Kansas man was arrested during a traffic stop north of Richmond.   He was wanted for first degree murder and abuse of a child.

The KBI said the case involves an unresponsive infant who was found January 14th at a home in Richmond.   Franklin County deputies and first responders took the baby to a hospital in Ottawa.  The child, one-month-old Waylon Marnell, was taken off life support on January 28th.

An investigation led to the warrant for the father’s arrest, and he was booked into the Franklin County jail.
