The Kansas Department of Transportation, the City of Wichita and Sedgwick County have announce plans for an open house in April to get input on design concepts for improvements to K-96, between I-135 and the Kansas Turnpike.
The open house will be held from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. on April 11th at the Hughes Metro Complex at 29th Street North and Oliver. There will be no formal presentations, but the public will be able to provide feedback on preferred design alternatives and a draft environmental assessment.
KDOT is looking at a project to improve safety, capacity and travel time on K-96. The project would expand the highway from four to six lanes, and it would make improvements to seven interchanges at Hillside, Oliver, Woodlawn, Rock Road, Webb Road, Greenwich Road and 21st Street.
