Severe weather took a toll on a number of states Thursday, with reports of tornadoes in Indiana, Kentucky and Ohio. Mayor Bob McCoy of Winchester, Indiana – about 90 miles northeast of Indianapolis – said he was stunned by how quickly disaster unfolded in the area.

At least two deaths were reported in Logan County, Ohio as crews began searching damaged areas.  A half-mile wide tornado destroyed a mobile home community in the town of Indian Lake.

There were earlier reports of at least three deaths in Indiana, but officials are now saying that may not be the case and the toll could be lower. At the same time they acknowledge that some people could still be trapped inside buildings.

Authorities near Louisville, Kentucky said the storms damaged at least 50 buildings including homes, and damage was reported in Hot Springs Village, Arkansas.
