Today, we honor Army Veteran Sid Hamid. A former Green Beret, Sid deals with several health challenges due to six rare diseases acquired from burn pit exposure during his over four decades of service. Along came The Tunnel To Towers Foundation, which was established in memory of Stephen Siller, a fallen New York City firefighter from the 9/11 attacks and their mission to honor the sacrifices of first responders and military service members. What started as a request from Sid for a 23-inch door to the bathroom to be expanded to 30 inches turned into a complete renovation with enhanced lighting, handicap ramps, other smart home features and the best feature of all – they paid off Sid’s mortgage.
