Officials in Baltimore say they have recovered bodies of two of the missing workers on the Francis Scott Key bridge when it collapsed.

Maryland Governor Wes Moore said during a press conference on Wednesday that efforts will now shift to “salvage and recovery.” He went on to add that the state has submitted a request to the Biden administration for emergency relief funds, and that he spoke with the president by phone.

The search for the missing workers was suspended Tuesday night because of diminished visibility and treacherous currents in the busy harbor. Overnight, the NTSB boarded the ship that crashed into the bridge and recovered the voyage data recorder.

Federal authorities say the cargo ship was carrying hazardous materials.  The head of the National Transportation Safety Board said the ship was hauling nearly 60 containers filled with hazardous materials, including corrosives and flammables, and that some of the containers were breached, creating a sheen on the water. She said a full investigation into the matter could take up to one to two years.
