Kansas transportation officials plan to close an exit ramp on I-135 in central Wichita for bridge work this week.
The ramp from southbound I-135 to westbound Kellogg will close Monday, April 8th to allow crews to work on milling, patching and a concrete overlay on each side of a bridge. The rehabilitation work will take place Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.
This is one of four bridge rehabilitation projects scheduled this year at the Kellogg-I-135 interchange. This first project is expected to be completed in late May, then the second bridge project with closures will begin. It’s estimated that the last bridge in the project will conclude by late November, depending on weather conditions.
During the construction, the speed limit will be reduced to 45 miles an hour in the work zone. Drivers are urged to stay alert and watch for construction workers and possible blowing dust on southbound I-135. A signed detour will take traffic to the Lincoln Street exits.
