UPDATE:  Newton police said a Hutchinson woman has been arrested in connection with a fatal hit-and-run crash on Monday.   The 23-year-old woman was booked into the Harvey County jail on a charge of failure to stop at an accident resulting in death, which is a felony charge.

The crash was reported on Southeast 24th Street just east of I-135.  It’s believed that a vehicle was traveling over the 24th Street bridge and it hit a woman early in the morning, and a passing truck driver reported the body around 9 a.m.

The victim has been identified as 64-year-old Laurie Robinson of Newton.

Police were looking for a white Honda or Acura with extensive passenger side damage, based on broken car parts that were found at the scene.   They reported later in the day that they found the vehicle and driver, and the investigation is continuing.
