A Wichita man was killed late Tuesday night in a shooting at a south side apartment complex, and police arrested a suspect at the scene.
The shooting was reported around 9:30 p.m. in the 2600 block of South Emporia. Police found 19-year-old Dontis Carter with several gunshot wounds, and he was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police identified a 19-year-old suspect and took him into custody at a traffic stop near his home. Investigators said the suspect and the victim had been involved in a dispute at the time of the shooting. The suspect was booked into jail on charges of first degree murder and possession of marijuana. He also faces charges of aggravated robbery for a separate incident that happened on December 20th, 2023 at a business in the 1900 block of East Pawnee.
