There will be some traffic closures near the Sedgwick County Adult Detention Facility for the next two weeks while crews work to install a secondary water line.
Crews are starting an excavation project to install a secondary water service line from a water main on Main Street. This will provide a backup source of water for inmates and staff for times when the primary water line is out of service for maintenance and repairs.
The construction will close the westbound lane of Elm Street, including parallel parking, from Main to Water Street. Eastbound traffic on Elm will remain open. The work will also block part of the far west lane on Main Street at Elm, but it will not limit access into the Sedgwick County Courthouse or the parking garage.
