Jury selection starts Monday in the hush money criminal trial of former President Donald Trump in New York.

Trump is facing 34 felony charges of accusations of falsifying business records in order to cover payments made to an adult film star just prior to the 2016 election.

There are reports that six thousand New Yorkers have been summoned as potential jurors. Trump is expected to be at the courthouse in Lower Manhattan for the trial and says he will testify. A pro Trump rally was scheduled outside the courthouse.

Former President Trump is entering unprecedented territory. Trump will appear in person for the duration of his New York trial against the backdrop of a presidential campaign, in which he’s the presumptive Republican nominee. That’s time away from the campaign trail.

The “hush money case” is the first of Trump’s four criminal cases to go to trial and may be the only one to wrap up before the November election. It makes him the first ex-president in U.S. history to face a court hearing on criminal charges.
