A Wichita furniture store will be going out of business after 78 years of operation.

The current owners of Horton’s Furniture are retiring and the business will begin its final liquidation sale on April 25th.

Horton’s was founded by Frank and Frances Horton in their hometown of Argonia, Kansas in 1946.  After 22 years in Argonia, the store moved to Wichita where it continued to expand at its location at 10915 West Kellogg Drive.    Steve Elpers and Dilman Morris bought the company from the Hortons in 1997 and have continued to offer quality home furnishings to Wichita and surrounding communities.

A number of items with famous name brands will be offered during the going-out-of-business sale, and management is encouraging early shopping for the best selection.

In a press release, Steve Elpers said, “I am grateful to our loyal customers across the states of Kansas and Oklahoma for their patronage over the past 78 years.  A special thanks to our exceptional staff for their dedication to making Horton’s Furniture a great shopping experience.”
