A Celebration of Life service was held Tuesday for one of the two southwest Kansas women who were killed in an Oklahoma murder plot.

The service was held at the Hugoton First Christian Church for 39-year-old Jilian Kelley, a court-appointed supervisor who was killed along with 27-year-old Veronica Butler on a trip to Oklahoma to pick up Butler’s children for a birthday party.   They failed to arrive at the party and their bodies were found in a rural area of Texas County, Oklahoma after a search by law enforcement officials.   Five people, including Butler’s former mother-in-law, are facing charges for the murders.  The fifth suspect in due in a Texas County courtroom on Wednesday.

Kelley’s family spoke during the services.  Her husband, Pastor Heath Kelley, said “she loved every minute with her kids, with me, with all of you.”

Funeral services for Butler will be held Friday, May 3rd in Hugoton.
