The Ascension hospital group reported a cyberattack on Wednesday after finding unusual activity on some technology network systems. Ascension officials said the attack disrupted clinical operations, and access to some systems was interrupted.
The health care system, which includes Ascension Via Christi St. Francis and Ascension Via Christi St. Joseph medical centers in Wichita, is working with a third-party firm to investigate the cyberattack.
Ascension suggested its business partners temporarily suspend their connection to the Ascension system, and the system is diverting patients with Sedgwick County EMS to other hospitals.
