Today we honor Veteran and retired firefighter Jeff Nebel. Being in the military and a first responder, Jeff said both those jobs came with trauma. It was that trauma that was affecting many things in his life, including his relationship with his wife. In 2022 he discovered Next 18, an organization that focuses on mental health for those on the front lines. He attended their camp – his wife filed for divorce. Jeff says the camp changed his life and some of the things that he brought home from camp helped with communication, helped their relationship. Now, 2 years later, as part of their peer program, Jeff is giving back by helping other Veterans and first responders with their mental health.
