Police have identified the man who died after being pulled from a pond at a south Wichita park.
Emergency crews were called to O.J. Watson Park at 3022 S. McLean just before 1 p.m. Sunday. They were told that a 23-year-old man went into the water to retrieve a ball during a graduation party at the park, and he failed to surface. Scuba divers found the man and he was not breathing when he was pulled from the water. He was taken to a hospital where he was later pronounced dead. He has been identified as Austin Pederson.
The park was closed while crews were at the scene.
