Uvalde families are reaching a settlement with the city and county after a gunman killed 19 students and two teachers two-years ago in Texas.
The families of 17 children killed and two students who survived will receive a city payout of two-million-dollars. The families say they are capping the money so Uvalde does not go into bankruptcy.
The settlement also involves changes to the Uvalde police department, including enhanced officer training and a new “fitness for duty” standard for officers. There was nationwide outrage after it was revealed officers did not immediately rush the shooter at Robb Elementary School.
