Wichita’s public art collection has been included in a national online and mobile database of public artworks throughout the United States.

The City of Wichita Public Art Collection is now available for viewing on The Public Art Archive.  It’s a free database that catalogs public art collections across the country.

Wichita Arts and Cultural Services Director Lindsay Benacka said in a press release, “The launch of this platform is a significant step in making our public art collection more accessible and aligns with our mission of ensuring everyone has access to the arts.  As the City’s collection continues to grow and evolve, we look forward to using this nationally recognized platform to better serve our residents and ensure that Wichita’s collection continues to draw visitors to the community.”

The collection comprises a wide variety of artwork which can be found throughout the City, from the hard to miss Georgia Gerber bronze sculptures along Douglas to an  Edwardian granite fountain tucked away in historic midtown at 17th Street and Park Place. Public art also adorns City infrastructure such as major roadways and bridges.
