A man was taken into custody Sunday evening after a five-hour standoff at a west Wichita home.
Deputies were checking on a stolen car around 1:30 Sunday afternoon at a home in the 6200 block of South Ridge Road. They found the car later in a neighborhood at North Young and St. Louis Street, west of the intersection of Central and West Street.
A man refused to come out of a home and negotiations began, with a SWAT team called to the scene. Deputies forced their way into the home around 7 p.m. and they removed several juveniles. The man was booked into jail.
