The Wichita Police Department’s Mounted Patrol Unit has a new team member.
A three-year-old chestnut mare Clydesdale named Bobbi has been acquired from Cowskin Creek Clydesdales in Goddard. Bobbi’s trainer, Keith Mann, presented the horse to the Mounted Unit on Thursday. Bobbi will be ready for duty in about a month.
The Mounted Unit has eight horses, and Bobbi will be the fourth Clydesdale on the unit. Bobbi is replacing a 26-year-old Clydesdale/Thoroughbred cross named Felicity who is retiring after six years of service. Felicity will be returned to the original owner who now resides in Georgia.
