Kenny Chesney is celebrating his 36th hit single. “Take Her Home” is number one this week on the Billboard Country Airplay chart. That means the Knoxville native has 61 top-ten singles under his belt. If he gains one more, he’ll beat out the King, George Strait, who currently reigns supreme.
George Strait making news this weekend for two reasons. Friday he released a new single called “The Little Things”, and it is vintage King George. It’s from the album “Cowboys and Dreamers” due out September 6th. Secondly, he set a “non festival” attendance record with his concert in Kyle, Texas. On Saturday, Strait drew 110,905 fans to Kyle Field at Texas A&M in College Station, which according to Billboard bested the previously acknowledged record of 107,019 fans who caught the Grateful Dead’s 1977 show at Raceway Park in New Jersey.
Another new single going into the weekend came from ACM winner Caylee Hammack. After touring, connecting with her fans and being a part of some special collaborations, she’s ready with new music with the vulnerable new single, “The Hill”
In Ohio at Country Fest, Lainey Wilson was crushing Alan Jackson’s “Gone Country”when she was asked by a fan to sign something unusual, their prosthetic leg. Without hesitating, Lainey said “I Got You” and kept right on singing.
