A woman and teenager from Wichita were killed Saturday in a two-vehicle crash on the Kansas Turnpike near Emporia.

The crash was reported around 3 p.m. on the Turnpike in Lyon County.  The Kansas Highway Patrol said a southbound SUV struck a semi from behind.

Two passengers in the SUV were killed, and they were identified as 42-year-old Erin Moreno and her son, 17-year-old Anthony Barrera.   The driver, 44-year-old Guerrero Moreno, Jr. of Wichita, was taken to a hospital with minor injuries.  There were three juveniles in the SUV who were not identified by the Highway Patrol, and they were also injured in the crash.

Moreno was a teacher in the Valley Center school district, and Anthony was to be a senior at Valley Center High School.  A GoFundMe page has been set up to help the family:
