Emergency crews are on the scene of a fatal crash northwest of Maize.
The Kansas Highway Patrol said the crash was reported shortly before 6 a.m. Monday on K-96 at 151st Street West. A van was traveling west when it suddenly went off the roadway and into the median. It hit the trailer of a semi that had stopped at a stop sign, facing south.
The driver of the van was pinned and he was pronounced dead after crews got him out. He was identified as 34-year-old Joseph Clementi of Wichita. The semi driver was not hurt.
Crews were blocking traffic at the interchange for several hours after the crash.
