A Wichita man has been sentenced to almost 39 years in prison for a stabbing incident that left a woman dead.
The sentence was handed down Monday for 39-year-old Goldy Metcalf, who had pleaded guilty in November to second degree murder and attempted second degree murder.
Metcalf was arrested after a series of incidents on December 4th, 2021. He was cited for trying to break into a car in north Wichita, and after being treated at a hospital for a previous injury, he stole a pickup in the 600 block of North Waco. The pickup crashed into a church at Orme and Poplar and then Metcalf forced his way into a home on South Green, where he stabbed a husband and wife. The woman, 64-year-old Rosane Machado, died later at a hospital. Her husband, 73-year-old Marcelo Machado, had non-life-threatening injuries.
Metcalf was sentenced to 467 months in prison with three years of post-release supervision. He was also ordered to pay almost $4,000 in restitution.
