Kansas corrections officials and the Kansas Bureau of Investigation are looking into the death of an inmate at the Hutchinson Correctional Facility.
Prison staff found 24-year-old Devon Malechi Stutesman unresponsive in his cell on March 1st. He was given medical treatment and then transported to a hospital, where he died on Monday, March 3rd. An autopsy was ordered to determine a cause of death.
Stutesman was serving a 122-month sentence from Lyon County for convictions of possession and distribution of heroin and an attempt to traffic firearms into a correctional facility.
