Today, I salute Navy Veteran John Shirley. Four years ago, John moved to Dallas; little did he know that a big challenge would meet him there. He was diagnosed with colon cancer. After going through treatment and recovering from his cancer, John enrolled at the University of Texas at Arlington. Last week, he graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration in real estate. John hopes his story will inspire others because, as he put it, “If I can do it, anyone can do it. It just depends on how well you want to apply yourself.” Congratulations, John, and THANK YOU for your service.
