Today, I salute Navy Veteran Edward Nachel. Edward served in the waters off the coast of Vietnam and, due to exposure to Agent Orange, developed health issues including type-2 diabetes, neuropathy, tinnitus, and degenerative arthritis. For one reason or another, Edward never filed a claim with the VA, and for that reason, he has been driving ride share for the last 5 years to make ends meet. Until one day, two DAV national service officers got in his car. One thing led to another, they encouraged Edward to file a claim, and to his surprise, it wasn’t too late. He can now give up ride share and enjoy the benefits his service earned him. Enjoy this new normal, Edward, and THANK YOU for your service.
