Today, the AWESOME is in the South Pacific. Imagine being on a Carnival cruise and then being a part of a rescue mission. That’s exactly what happened recently on an 8-day cruise that left Sydney, Australia. The ship was notified a few days into the cruise about a distress call from a disabled catamaran. Carnival Splendor diverted course and reached the catamaran after a five-hour journey through rough seas. The rescue team brought the two couples and their three dogs safely aboard the cruise ship, where they are now receiving food, water, medical care, and a short cruise—no word on whether they got the drink package or not. A fantastic story to tell for both cruise ship passengers and the lives that were saved, THAT’S AWESOME.
